It had been many years since I worked with a trainer and with my wife wanting to find a new focus for our exercise regime (or lack thereof) we made the decision to find one.
With some searching the internet we came upon New Wave Athletics and I recognized the owner from many years past and we really liked the overall feel of their website. Our first meeting was more of an interview than for us than for him. Darrell's goal for all his clients is to get results, but, and this is a big but, we would have to listen to him. He explained that if we were to do exactly what he says we would have the results we were wanting.
In the beginning I dreaded our Tuesday morning torture sessions but within a month or so I was and am addicted. His training technique and methods are very much functional fitness and over the past year I have noticed that my fitness levels have improved in all aspects and my wife is now in the best shape she has ever been in! My results are less spectacular than hers for sure but remember when I mentioned that I had to listen and do what I was told? Well, you can certainly do the physical effort but without a clear focus on your nutrition your results will be slower. Much slower.
In the end all I can say is that I very much enjoy the training sessions and will continue to do so for the see-able future.
